Change the World, Educate Girls
All of us benefit from inhabiting a more just and prosperous world. But such a world only can be reached by making women strong. We cannot realize our goals of ending poverty and achieving lasting equality without empowering women. And the foundation for true equality is the education of young girls, especially now, when they represent the largest generation of young people in history.Like Us
Educated Girls Make a Difference
Given access to proper education, girls have unbounded potential to vastly enrich our world. Educated girls are more likely to emerge from poverty and help others. They are healthier, better able to earn a living, and more equipped to make important life choices about marriage and family that benefit not only themselves, but also their communities and countries, in countless ways.
Yet of the 1.8 billion young people around the world, 130 million girls are not in school, 9 out of 10 of whom live in less developed countries. At WomenStrong International, we are working through some of the challenges behind these statistics to find ways to ensure that girls have the support they need to complete their education.
A small financial contribution can make a significant impact in helping a girl finish school. Below are just a few ways your gift to WomenStrong International can help:
- $50 will buy school supplies for five girls for an entire school year
- $120 will pay a year’s tuition for one girl in junior high (grades 7-9)
- $700 covers high school tuition for one girl for a year (grades 10-12)
- $7,500 establishes a Girls’ Club in your name, providing essential support for keeping dozens of girls in school
Changing Lives Through Girls’ Clubs
Through our innovative Girls’ Club programs, we bring young women together in safe spaces, where they can connect, make friends, share stories, and gain insights from mentors and peers that help them finish school and lead better lives. This is one of the pathways through which they have the opportunity to become strong women and change the world. You can help.
Coinciding with the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11, our fall campaign spotlights the remarkable accomplishments of Girls’ Clubs run by our Consortium member organizations in Ghana, Haiti, India, and Kenya as well as the #WomenStrongWarriors who work in these Clubs and who make a difference in the lives of thousands of WomenStrong girls.
Above all, we will be highlighting efforts by the courageous young women who, against great odds, are delaying pregnancy and marriage, studying late into the night under difficult conditions, and staying in school to get the education that will let them create a more prosperous future for themselves, and for generations to come.
