Julia manages learning activities, community-building, and knowledge sharing among partners in WomenStrong's Learning Lab.

Julia Fan is the Knowledge & Program Manager at WomenStrong International, where she manages learning activities, community-building, and knowledge sharing among partners in our Learning Lab.

As a lifelong advocate for gender equality and human rights, Julia’s career has centered on women and girls’ empowerment issues globally. Julia studied the role of non-governmental organizations in Chinese women’s political empowerment as a Fulbright Scholar in China. Fluent in Mandarin, she has worked at New York-based Human Rights in China, the U.S. State Department, with the UN Population Fund Gender Team in Beijing, at the Clinton Foundation, and as a consultant for The Hunger Project. Julia is the founder of SAFER: NYC, a non-profit organization dedicated to engaging men in the movement to end street harassment in NYC and beyond.

Julia has a Master in Public Administration, focusing on gender and development, from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. She graduated from Vassar College with a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese and International Studies.
