Statement on the Assault Against American Democracy

WomenStrong International released the following statement today in response to the violence that took place at the U.S. Capitol, on January 6, 2021:

What we witnessed yesterday at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC, is anathema to every value WomenStrong holds.

We believe in a world where women and girls and their families are free to speak their minds, exercise their human rights, and shape their lives and their future. The use of violence, intimidation, and harassment as means of denying them these freedoms by seeking to overturn the votes of millions who duly elected their next president is as despicable as it is dangerous.

WomenStrong stands with all those committed to restoring and protecting our rights, our democracy, and social justice, both in the United States and around the world.
