Our Strategic Plan

WomenStrong’s Strategic Plan 2023 – 2026:
Empowering Women to Build Better Communities

We believe in the power of local women-led organizations to improve the lives of women and girls in their communities. Born out of a deep understanding gained over a decade working in sub-Saharan cities, WomenStrong was founded to provide resources to and connect remarkable women leaders and their grassroots organizations. We work with 19 women-led non-profits in 17 countries, all of them addressing critical needs of women and girls, including girls’ education, reproductive health, economic security, and living free of violence.

Our experience since our founding in 2014 has laid the firm basis for this new stage of growth, as outlined in our Strategic Plan. At its core are five objectives aimed at promoting gender equity across the globe:

1.       Helping women-led partner organizations strengthen their capacity in ways they identify as contributing to their effectiveness in their work with the women and girls in their communities

2.       Community capacity strengthening, peer-to-peer learning and collaboration, and amplifying partners’ voice and visibility

3.       Assessing partners’ feedback on and outcomes of their capacity strengthening and Learning Lab activities, and supporting interested partners in strengthening their own learning and evaluation processes

4.       Expanding and clarifying our own leadership and governance structures

5.       Ensuring our organizational growth and development by implementing communications, fundraising, and donor relation strategies to deepen our visibility and financial sustainability.
